Direct Sequence 802.11B Raylink WISP AP Controller

802.11B Raylink WISP AP Controller802.11B Raylink WISP AP Controller
Raylink's WISP Access Point Controller is the core of the Raylink Point-to-MultiPoint WISP Network. A highly capable broadband wireless base station unit, the AP Controller effectively manages multiple clients across a wide physical area while providing a powerful and secure WISP Network. The Raylink AP Controller utilizes CSMA/CA on a Raytheon 802.11 Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum platform for the highest security and reliability
available. CSMA/CA (Carrier Sense Multiple Access/Collision Avoidance) is a technique that combines TDM (Time Division Multiplexing) with CSMA/CD (Carrier Sense Multiple Access/Collision Detection) to avoid having collisions occur a second time during the transmission of data across your broadband wireless network.

The AP Controller is remotely managed using Raylink's NMS (Network Management Software). The NMS allows the administrator to manage and implement their individual customer performance requirements by providing the WISP administrator with up to 128 user definable traffic shaping queues. Static Routing and MAC Address Filtering features can be configured to improve security, and allows the administrator to keep viruses, hack attacks and other unwanted IP traffic from propagating to the rest of the network. The Raylink NMS can also be used in conjunction with several different versions of RADIUS software for added security and flexibility.

Scalability
Different clients have different requirements. With Raylink's AP Controller at the center of your network, you have the flexibility of a scalable solution, which can easily adapt to your ever-changing needs.

Service providers who are making their initial entry into wireless can use Raylink's AP Controller to start off with a smaller Point-to-MultiPoint WISP network, using a single AP Controller to provide broadband links to their clients. With Raylink, it is very easy to add more CPE Stations to the network gradually, as your customer base grows. This allows your company to quickly begin achieving ROI on its current network, while you expand into
different geographical regions and obtain more clients.

On the other hand, service providers with a large existing customer base can immediately deploy wireless broadband service to their customers with ease by co-locating several AP Controllers together on a tower and broadcasting the bandwidth to the entire region. Any combination of Raylink WISP CPE Stations or Bridges can be easily positioned on the rooftops of enterprise or residential clients to receive the wireless signal and provide
connectivity to your customers.

Flexibility
Raylink's AP Controller is available in both Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum (IEEE 802.11) and Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum (IEEE 802.11b) versions. With a raw data rate of 2Mbps, the Frequency Hopping version delivers bandwidth up to T1 speeds and is preferred by many wireless operators because of its superior security and resistance to interference. As a result, Frequency Hopping AP Controllers are often chosen by wireless
operators looking to deploy larger Point-to-Multipoint networks. For locations where radio interference is not an issue, Raylink's AP Controllers can be ordered in Direct Sequence format, which boasts a raw data rate of 11Mbps.

Raylink's AP Controller is available in single or dual-port versions. With the Dual AP Controller, the wireless operator can install one physical AP Controller box on a tower, while the dual antenna ports can be connected to two separate antennas. This option is perfect for wireless ISPs who are seeking to reduce weight and wind loading on the tower. It is very popular for ISPs to use the Dual AP Controller for Point-to-MultiPoint broadcast (using two sector antennas), or for a combined Backhaul and MultiPoint broadcast (using one sector antenna and one grid dish antenna). No matter the situation, Raylink's wireless broadband equipment caters to your network's constantly changing needs.
